National Safe Place (NSP) Week Is Right around the Corner
Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library is proud our libraries are Youth Service Bureau (YSB) of St. Joseph County Safe Place Stations!
This year, NSP Week is celebrated nationally March 17-23.
Safe Place signs are visible near the entrance of all three MPHPL library locations.
The sign means anyone under the age of 18 in crisis can seek help at a Safe Place.
Once a child notifies our MPHPL staff they need help, we provide them with a Safe Place until a YSB of St. Joseph County licensed Safe Place representative arrives.
The YSB representative will meet with the child to offer support, resources and assistance.
Please join MPHPL in spreading the news about National Safe Place Week and YSB this March!
Storytime Helps Develop Early Literacy Skills Important for Lifetime Learning
MPHPL offers a variety of Storytime sessions at all three library locations.
Storytime provides an inviting space for children to enjoy literacy-rich, hands-on experiences in an interactive and caring environment.
The surroundings help children develop communication and social skills needed to be ready to learn by the time they enter school.
MPHPL offers sessions for three Storytime age groups: Books & Babies (Birth-23 Months): 10:15-10:45 a.m. Toddler Time (Ages: 2 to 3 Years): 11-11:30 a.m. Preschool Pals (Ages: 4 to 5 Years): 10:15-10:45 a.m.
Sessions are offered at the downtown Mishawaka Library, Harris Branch and Bittersweet Branch in January, March, May, July*, September and November. *Summer Storytime is combined/all ages (Birth-Age 5).
No registration is required for MPHPL Storytime sessions.
