Toddler Takeover

Bring your little ones to the library for a fun-filled time with a variety of toys and activities! Enjoy a ball pit with tunnels, dress-up clothes, a play kitchen, and more. While all ages are welcome, this event is especially perfect for children 6 and under.
Storytime
Friday, July 11th,18th, & 25th, 10:30am
 
Join us for stories, crafts, and playtime every Friday at 10:30. Best for ages 3-5, but all ages welcome! No registration required. Please note, there will be no storytime July 4th

Moon Sand Science Activity
Monday, July 7th, 3pm
 
Join WMHT Public Television for science fun. Combine simple baking & oil supplies to create blue moon sand. Families use familiar tools and materials to have fun and help children develop an understanding of the physical world.

Erie Canal: Ticket to Ride (Presented by MiSci)
Wednesday, July 9th, 3pm
 

Discover the Erie Canal through a hands-on, inquiry-based learning experience that explores the science, technology, and history of innovation in Upstate New York. Students will understand the physics behind the workings of the Canal, including friction, buoyancy, and Pascal’s Law. Using the engineering process, participants build a lock model based on the Erie Canal’s lock system.

Squeegee Art
Monday, July 14, 3pm
 
Make a work of art using this unique and creative form of abstract painting. Use a squeegee to create bold and expressive patterns. 
 
Science Chef: Glowing Science
Wednesday, July 16th, 3pm
 
Learn about fluorescence and what glows. Watch as three chemicals combine into a “chemical flashlight”. Experiment with a black light reader and make glowing jello to take home.
Yarn Monsters
Monday, July 21, 3pm
Event Location
Use yarn, pipe cleaners, pompoms and googly eyes to create an adorable and silly yarn monster.
Crime Lab Science
Wednesday, July 23, 3pm
Event Location
Learn about forensic science and how evolving technology helps scientists and detectives discover the truth about mysterious criminal cases. “Detectives in training” participate in a mock investigation where they identify the main types of fingerprints, explore the science of chromatography, learn about DNA and how to extract it, and use evidence to identify the culprit. Best for Ages 8+
Tang Museum
Monday, July 28th, 3pm
 
Tang presents Ghost Adventures, a project inspired by Tyson Reeder’s painting in the Tang collection called Ghost River. Tyson Reeder creates colorful and imaginative landscapes inspired by our daily experiences. 
Tissue Paper Art
Wednesday, July 30, 3pm
 
Using white crayons, tissue paper and a little water, we will create colorful pieces of art!
