Join Reading Dangerously on Thursday, July 23 at 5:30 p.m. as we discuss the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. Stop by the library to pick up your copy. |
|
| Their Eyes Were Watching Godby Zora Neale HurstonOne of the most important and enduring books of the twentieth century, Their Eyes Were Watching God brings to life a Southern love story with the wit and pathos found only in the writing of Zora Neale Hurston. Out of print for almost thirty years-due largely to initial audiences' rejection of its strong black female protagonist-Hurston's classic has since its 1978 reissue become perhaps the most widely read and highly acclaimed novel in the canon of African-American literature. |
|

Welcome to the Brandon Library, Jasmine!
My Name is Jasmine Gates, born and raised in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi. Most would consider me a Cautionary Tale/Recurring coffee aficionado.
I’m a food-for-thought type of reader; anything that feeds the mind, body, and soul, I consume. My literary table is a round of Carl Jung, O. Butler, Dostoevsky, J. Baldwin, The Brothers Grimm, and many others.
My hobbies include Pilates, writing, coffee, and making book review content.
Working at the library is my ultimate contribution. I believe in investing and giving back to the community that once raised me. I enjoy the exchange of stories and laughter amongst my patrons, whom I consider part of the family here at the branch.
I look forward to my journey here and thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
