Author visits to the library
The first two authors in our Spring 2018 Author Talks series have been wonderful! On April 19, cultural historian Gregory Klages spoke about "The Many Deaths of Tom Thomson" and the fact and fiction surrounding this well-known artist's mysterious death.

And on May 10, bestselling author Jennifer Robson was here to chat about her latest book "Goodbye From London" and the ins and outs of researching and writing a historical novel.

New book on StoryWalk
The warm weather is finally here and we were able to get out on May 8 to update StoryWalk. The Healthy Kids Community Challenge theme is "Power Off and Play!" and our new story The Fabulous Friend Machine by Nick Bland will encourage you to do just that. To check it out, start at the Station Museum at 45 St. Paul Street and follow the Train Trail to Manning Avenue.

IT STARTS...with you and me
During the week of April 23 to May 4, Library staff joined the County of Simcoe in raising awareness of diversity in our communities with the IT STARTS campaign.Thank you to all who filled in pledge cards to assert your stand on ending racism and discrimination.

Showing off on the violin
After taking violin lessons for almost a year at the library under the tutorship of Ali Giedraitis, these young musicians were ready to take the stage at their first recital on April 21. Congratulations!

Our volunteers are the best
We have an amazing group of volunteers at the Collingwood Public Library. They help out in all of our departments, arranging programs, inputting records, teaching kids, giving us their advice and knowledge, driving books to shut-ins, cataloging materials, and so much more. We held a reception on April 18 to let them know much we appreciate all their dedication and hard work. Thank you all!

Knit one, purl two...
Join our knitter's community every first and third Wednesday of the month at 2pm. Bring your own creative projects or help us with our charitable knitted items. No need to register. Everyone welcome!

Coming up: Access Information Fair
National Access Awareness Week is May 27 to June 2, 2018 and we're celebrating inclusion and accessibility in our community. The highlight of the week will be our Access Information Fair on Friday, June 1 from 1-4pm in the library foyer, where you'll discover local resources and services for people living with disabilities. Free to attend. Everyone is welcome. (PS: Therapy dogs will be here too!)
