Join us for a 20 minute, all-ages family storytime at the Corvallis Public Library’s Main Meeting Room! Short stories, songs, and rhymes will be shared. Children must be accompanied by a grown-up. All participants must follow current face covering and distancing guidelines. Capacity is limited and pre-registration is required. Please register for only one storytime session per day so we can serve as many families as possible.

Come sing, clap, and move your body to music with Marisa in this interactive music program designed for families with children between the ages of 2 to 10. Space is limited and registration is required.
 
First Readers Book Club
Online registration begins on the 15th of each month for the following month's kit.
 
The First Readers Book Club is for kids who are reading early reader books. The First Readers Book Club features a new book club kit each month featuring a paperback copy of an early reader book, discussion questions, and a craft. If you are beginning to read and love books like Elephant and Piggie, Frog and Toad, Biscuit, and Fly Guy – this book club is for you!

The Bad Seed is in a good mood...for once. That's because there's a really cool book at the library available for checkout. The Bad Seed reads, and reads, until the book can't be read anymore. But suddenly, he gets bad news: The book must be returned to the library so another seed can enjoy it. Will the bad seed return to his baaaaaad ways and keep the book?
 
June First Readers Book Club Title:
Emma Every Day: The Lemonade Stand by C.L. Reid
 
It's summer, and Emma and Izzie are bored and broke. Setting up a lemonade stand is a sweet way to solve both of those problems. But running a business isn't as easy as it seems... Features an ASL fingerspelling chart and a sign language guide.
 
Available while supplies last. Books and supplies are provided by the Friends of the Library.

Children’s Day / Children’s Book Day is celebrated on April 30th each year.
 
Recorded storytimes with stories read in different languages will be posted on CBCPL’s YOUTUBE channel during the week of April 25th.
 
A “Hooray for Hat” Take Home Craft Kit will be available starting April 19th.

Language Learning Resources
Learning a new language? The library has various resources to help adults and children learn a new language. These include:
  • Books in the World Languages Collection. Our library has a wide selection of Spanish language materials, and a small selection of materials in other world languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Korean, Japanese, and more. Reading a children's book in a language that your child or you are learning is one way to start.
  • Language instruction books for specific languages.
  • Language instruction books that contain audio-visual aids such as CDs. An example is the Pimsleur Language program materials in the adult non-fiction section.
  • DVDs such as the Little Pim language learning DVDs in the children's section.
  • Downloadable audiobooks.
  • Free Streaming Videos on Kanopy, such as "Little Pim Streaming Videos".
  • A language learning database program such as Mango Languages.

PLAY:
  1. Where does this go? Collect various types of recyclables around the house. Label boxes or bins with pictures and words for : paper and cardboard, plastic, metal / cans. Challenge the kids to sort the recyclables into the different bins.
  2. Reuse this! Challenge kids to find an alternative use for an item that you would usually discard or recycle. Examples include decorating a glass jar to be reused as a vase, an aluminum can into a pencil holder, shoe box into storage for special collections, a plastic milk jug into a hanging plant holder.
