Special Notes from the Library

All Pitkin County buildings, including the Library, will be closed on Wednesday, December 24 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm and Thursday, December 25 in celebration of Christmas. All Pitkin County buildings, including the Library, will also be closed Wednesday December 31 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm and Thursday, January 1 for the New Year's holiday.

Paint Like Bob Ross

5Point On the Road Film Tour

Pitkin County Library is proud to present 5Point Film Festival - On The Road, an evening of inspiring short films from the acclaimed 5Point Film Festival, founded in Carbondale, Colorado. This film program features some of the year’s most unforgettable stories of adventure, perseverance and the human spirit—all curated with the heart and soul that 5Point is known for.

This month Literature Out Loud will bring you the wonderful words of our valley’s own Joe Henry. Henry’s finely crafted work, “Lime Creek”, chronicles the lives and memories of a ranching family and has chapters that stand alone as perfect short story gems.

For the month of December, we will make pamphlet stitch journals and magnetic list pads with a perfect binding using materials provided by the Library on a first come, first served basis. Make a few to give to friends and family.

Narcan Saves Lives

Before the season of Holiday parties begins, join Pitkin County Library and High Rockies Harm Reduction as we present a public Narcan training.

Narcan is a safe and easy to use over-the-counter medication that counteracts the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose. 


This training, provided by High Rockies Harm Reduction director Mugsy Seldeen, prepares you to identify an overdose and administer Narcan when needed. Mugsy Seldeen is a native of the Roaring Fork Valley and has trained thousands of people across the country on the overdose epidemic and how to use Narcan. High Rockies Harm Reduction is excited to bring this FREE public training to Aspen this winter.
