Winter Reading Challenge BINGO

To play, read books in the categories to earn Bingo. Game sheets are available on our website, at the lower level circulation desk or click here.
 
When you earn Bingo, bring your sheet to the Children's Corner circulation desk to choose a prize from our prize bin.  Prizes can be redeemed as they are earned. Complete the board and win a free book. (Limit  of one horizontal, one vertical and one diagonal prize per person.)
 
Prizes must be redeemed on or before January 31.

Explore our Maker Space science and technology toys and games. Play at your own pace with our Gadgets and Gizmos Invention Kit, Snap Circuits, Junior Architect Blocks, Electromagnetic Exploration Center, and lots more.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Saturday, December 31 and Sunday, February 1
 
Wouldn't your stuffed animal love a sleepover at the library? Bring a stuffed animal to the library on Saturday, January 31 and then return on Sunday, February 1 to pick it up and see what mischief it was up to overnight!
 
You and your stuffed animal will enjoy a special story and craft together on Saturday afternoon. Leave your animal to spend the night with all of the other stuffed animals! Come back on Sunday afternoon to pick up your animal, enjoy a snack of animal crackers and juice and hear all about the adventures of the stuffed animals during their night in the library!
 
Register here for session 1 on Saturday, January 31 from 10:30 - 11:30 and Sunday, February 1 from 1:15 - 1:45.

Build a LEGO Story
Monday, January 12
6:00 - 7:00 pm
Grades K - 5
 
Build a Story by creating, planning, and building a character and setting with LEGOs. 
 
Caregivers can come into the room at 6:50 pm to see the amazing creation their child builds before it's taken apart.
 
Register here at least 24 hours prior. 
Walk-ins will be welcome if space permits.
An adult must sign-in walk-ins.
Cardinal in the Snow
Thursday, January 29

Grades 1 - 5

Learn to paint a cardinal in the snow.

September through May from 6:00-7:00 pm.
 
Engineer a project by creating, planning, and building with LEGOs. LEGO pieces will be provided and cleaned up at the end of the session for the next session.
 
 LEGO Club will not meet in January due to the holiday. Check out our "Build a LEGO Story" or "Tween Scene LEGO Challenge" events for LEGO fun.

Imagine, design, explore, construct, and discover with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math! Develop critical thinking, teamwork, motor, and communication skills.

Gr 1 – 2 Build Your Own Robotic Hand
Children in grades 1-2 will explore movement, prosthetics & helping hands by understanding that fingers bend using bones and tendons and building a robot hand that moves by pulling yarn "tendons."

Gr 3 – 5 Build Your Own Robotic Hand
Children in grades 3-5 will explore mechanics and prosthetics by understanding how human fingers move, constructing a mechanical robot hand using paper, straws (as joints), yarn (as tendons), and fasteners that allow finger movement through pulling.

Our Tales for TAILS (Therapy Animals Increase Literacy Skills) Program is an effective and fun way to improve children's reading and communication skills though the assistance of registered pet therapy teams as literacy mentors. The child reads to the pet as the pet quietly sits or lies close by. The child is encouraged to pet, engage, and connect with the pet. 
 
Please bring several books at your child's reading level that they can read to the dogs.

Does your child love making crafts? Then make time for Craft-A-Palooza! Each child can make two crafts. One craft will follow simple instructions or an example. The second craft, our “craft challenge,” is based on a monthly theme and will allow your child to express their creativity and individuality.
