Statement on Bill 28

Concerned about Bill 28? You're not alone.

Bill 28 creates new barriers to access, moves decision making from local boards and trained professionals, and raises privacy concerns.

@CAPLibraries has sent a letter to Premier Danielle Smith and Minister of Municipal Affairs Dan Williams to outline concerns with the breadth and practicality of the proposed legislation and to request a meeting. You can read their press release here.

The changes announced by the Government of Alberta impact 324 public library service points across the province, which serve 99% of Albertans.
