Homeschool @ East: Breakout Room: In Search of Bigfoot Fri., 9/6 at 1 p.m. Something large and hairy has been sighted on security cameras! Homeschoolers will work together to collect evidence, utilize their math skills, solve a series of puzzles that open locks, and track down Bigfoot before he disappears into the forest forever. Engineering Feats Ready to think outside the box? Homeschoolers will experiment with mechanical assists using an extension grabber they make, test variations of shape and balance with Magna-Tiles, and practice cooperative building as they stack a pyramid of SOLO cups - without touching the cups! We'll supply the materials, kids supply the imagination. For ages 7 - 12.

Colorado History: Moving Day Homeschool students explore the movement of people across Colorado from prehistory to 1870 and become "experts" on cultural groups, including Ancestral Puebloans, mountain men, miners, Utes, Plains Indians, and Hispanos. This interactive program features hands-on objects, archival photographs, and a large walk-on map. For ages 6 - 12. Registration is required for the Library 21c program.

For the Birds Through fun hands-on experiences, homeschoolers will learn about various types of birds, what they eat, where they live, and their adaptations. Projects include making a bird feeder and dissecting owl pellets. For ages 5 - 12. Registration is required for the High Prairie program. Waitlist status at this time.

Homeschool @ Rockrimmon: Old-Time Square Dancing Join verteran square dance caller, Andy Scheer, for a special session of good times - and American heritage - set to music. A professional caller since 1975, Andy specializes in providing a fun program for people who've never square danced. For ages 7 and up, his program blends simple instructions and you-can-do-it steps in time to music that will take you back to a different era. Get ready to swing your partner and join in the fun! Homeschool Science @ East: Cheyenne Mountain ZOOMobile: Animal Mythbusters Can porcupines shoot their quills? Do cockroaches serve any purpose? Learn the truth about some well-known animal myths. Join the educators from the Cheyenne Mountain ZOOMobile and their crew of live animal ambassadors to learn about an array of animal behaviors and see wildlife in a whole new way! Designed for school-aged kids, our Homeschool Science @ East programs are scheduled one Friday of every month. Parents are expected to accompany their students.
