Sea Wife
by Amity Gaige
What happens when a marriage in crisis sets sail for the Caribbean? In Amity Gaige’s Sea Wife, Juliet and Michael decide to escape their suburban malaise by taking their two young children on a year-long voyage across the open ocean. Michael is the dreamer, chasing a sense of freedom he can't find on land; Juliet is the reluctant traveller, carrying her own secret struggles and a thesis on confessional poetry. Told through Juliet’s hauntingly sharp perspective and Michael’s travel logs, this isn't just a story about a shipwreck—it’s a psychological autopsy of a relationship. It is a gripping, literary thriller that explores the fine line between adventure and catastrophe, and the parts of ourselves we can never quite leave behind, even in the middle of the sea.
