In April we're focusing on early learning literacy.
Early learning and early learning literacy are essentially the skills children (and adult learners too!) need to learn before they begin reading--things like learning and recognizing shapes, print awareness concepts like right to left and top to bottom, and basic narrative skills (telling a story, describing something, etc). The library knows these skills are absolutely essential for preparing kids for success and our Youth Services staff are a great resource for parents and caregivers!

We're teaming up with our Youth Services and inviting all the parents and caretakers to come to our play-doh parties being held across the district. Early learners will enjoy Play-Doh Activities involving weights and measures, letter recognition, color mixing and identification, and sensory experiments. Caregivers will learn about the importance of play as related to Kindergarten readiness through hands-on activities. This program is for age 0-4 and their parent/caregivers.
