In April we're focusing on early learning literacy.

Early learning and early learning literacy are essentially the skills children (and adult learners too!) need to learn before they begin reading--things like learning and recognizing shapes, print awareness concepts like right to left and top to bottom, and basic narrative skills (telling a story, describing something, etc).  The library knows these skills are absolutely essential for preparing kids for success and our Youth Services staff are a great resource for parents and caregivers!

Play-doh Party!

We're teaming up with our Youth Services and inviting all the parents and caretakers to come to our play-doh parties being held across the district.

Early learners will enjoy Play-Doh Activities involving weights and measures, letter recognition, color mixing and identification, and sensory experiments. Caregivers will learn about the importance of play as related to Kindergarten readiness through hands-on activities.

This program is for age 0-4 and their parent/caregivers.

Going to Seed
Going to Seed

Our annual Going to Seed series and seed giveaway is underway.  This year, we're focusing on native plants.  Sadly, most of our hands-on workshops have already happened, but you can still attend one of our many classes presented by local experts and gardeners! Attend one of the programs and learn to identify some of our native plant life or learn about how to incorporate native species into your garden plans--and why you should!

In addition to the many programs, pop-in to any of the libraries for a small sample of native plant seeds that you can take home and plant for free!
