Community Library Network District Newsletter
November 2025

From The Director's Desk

" Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart,
it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude.
"
- A.A. Milne
November is the month of Thanksgiving, and, on behalf of all the CLN team, I extend my sincerest gratitude to our patrons for their indispensable contribution
to our success. Following the dissolution of the Cooperative Information Network, which took effect on September 30, 2025, we began a new chapter of providing library services to our taxing district. We have implemented improvements to our inter-branch delivery system. We are preparing for exciting expansions of the collection and public use space at our Hayden and Post Falls branches. We recently completed our new strategic plan’s data gathering phase with 1,206 survey responses, 58 focus group participants, and 34 stakeholder conversations.  The CLN is listening to the communities we serve to shape our mission and vision for the future. The CLN staff will engage in a full-day retreat on December 5, 2025,
to transform community input into strategic goals. At the CLN, we are determined to provide our taxing district with the best in free access to information as well as exceptional educational and cultural programming. We hold a very large amount
of gratitude for all the patrons in our community, and we look forward to serving you better.

Local Author Spotlight

This month, we’re shining a light on the incredible literary talent right here in our own backyard! Our Local Author Spotlight celebrates the voices that help shape our community’s stories—whether through fiction, memoir, poetry, or many other genres. Each featured author brings a unique perspective and passion for storytelling, and we’re thrilled to introduce their work to readers of all ages. Stop by your favorite CLN branch to explore their books, attend the Local Author Celebration, bring your kids to a Stories Under the Stars: Record Your Story program, and discover the inspiration behind the pages. Let’s support and celebrate the creativity that makes our region so vibrant!

We invite families during the week of November 3rd through 9th to cozy up
with twinkling tales, bedtime adventures, stargazing stories, and nocturnal animals—all in the spirit of reading after dark.

We have opportunities for our younger patrons to share their story. Stop by the library to record your story to be included in our Yoto collection. Stories can be a few sentences to a few pages.

A thank you letter to my homeschool by Deb Adamson
A thank you letter to my homeschool
by Deb Adamson

"A homeschooled child thanks his school for everything it offers--from indoor inventions to outdoor adventures, from finding new friends to puzzling out problems. His school day might include robotics with friends, silent study time, planting seeds at the community garden, and more. One thing is for sure: homeschool is not boring!"--Provided by publisher

The Aldens are helping out at a new food pantry, collecting donations and putting up signs. But someone keeps moving the signs, and when the main course for the big town dinner disappears, the Boxcar Children have a mystery to solve!"--Provided by publisher
