Night at the Museum Summer Kick-off Party
Legend has it that when the library doors close, the characters within the books don’t just stay on the page... they come to life! This summer, we’re inviting you to see the library in a whole new light.
Our Summer Reading Kickoff transforms the library into a living museum. From the prehistoric depths of the non-fiction section to the golden ages of the past, young explorers will navigate “exhibits,” create historical artifacts, and kick off their reading journey with a bang.
Log your minutes, earn your badges, and help us keep the magic alive all summer long.

Mobius Discovery Center sparks curiosity and ignites imaginations through exploration, play, and hands-on learning experiences. This summer they are bringing the exploration to us.

Cow Eye Dissection
Why do cow eyes glow at night? How similar are cow eyes to ours? Explore these questions and more while dissecting a real eyeball! Through this ooey-gooey workshop, learn how each piece of the eye works together to give us sight. Kids will work in groups to dissect and identify the anatomy of a cow’s eye with assistance from Mobius staff.

Volcanoes
Scientists drill into soil and ice to study Earth's history. Create volcanic eruptions and study core samples as you drill into your model volcano, and study them like a geologist. Kids will create volcanic eruptions and trade with other kids to sample the core and test their findings.

Summer Storytime has stories, games, and hands-on activities for children and their caregivers. Have a baby that is not quite ready for storytime? Join us at Book Babies, a program designed for our youngest library users (birth-2).
 
Bilingual Storytime
Whether you speak English, Spanish, or both languages, this storytime is for you! Explore the world of language and build literacy skills through stories, songs, and activities. This program is offered through a grant from the Idaho Commission for Libraries.

Each Libratory consists of multiple hands-on scientific and artistic investigations into STEAM topics. This summer we’ll learn about dinosaurs and earthquakes.
For ages 8–12.
 
Dig Into a Story
At this drop-in style program, kids are invited to walk from page to page through an interactive story in which they will make choices, complete physical and mental challenges, and earn prizes. Kids may dig to Atlantis, go on a dinosaur dig, or search for treasure with a surprising friend! There are 23 endings and 6 of those have prizes! Can you find them all?
Not a strong reader? No problem! The bold words on each page provide a shortened passage to read that still provides a complete story to follow.

Archaeological digs uncover buried historical, architectural, and cultural artifacts—from dinosaurs and pottery to buildings and human remains—and help us recover and preserve the past. Using a wide variety of tools and scientific methods, you can step into the world of archaeology to uncover hidden stories, decode ancient civilizations, and piece together the mysteries left beneath the earth’s surface. Launch into Learning:
Sensory Play

Ty-Ran-Asaurus Rex Color Stomp
Join us for the Ty-ran-asaurus Rex Color Stomp! Forget the sprinting—we’re stomping at a Brachiosaurus Pace. Navigate our “Dino-Zone” stations where you’ll be blasted with vibrant, volcanic colors at every turn. By the time you reach the finish line, you’ll look like a masterpiece that’s been frozen in (very colorful) time.
