Submit up to 5 photos that were taken BY YOU, ON LOPEZ, in the year 2024!
Prizes for the top 3 photos will be chosen by popular vote on First Saturday Art Walk, January 4th from 5-7 pm.
  
To enter: please email Nikyta@lopezlibrary.org with your full name and up to 5 photos with high enough resolution to be high quality but still sent via email. You can also add photos to the Facebook comments section on the post for this contest.
 
All photos must be received by midnight, Jan 1, 2025.

Join us for an opening of new work by artist/environmental activist Beth Robson and a display of the Best Lopez Photos of 2024 as part of First Saturday Art Walk. Beth will speak about her work at 5pm and light refreshments will be served.

Mindful Birding/BirdTalk
- 1st & 3rd Tuesdays -
January 7 & 21 @ 9-10am
 
Join Beth St. George for guided bird walks to shore and forest habitats. In poor weather, meet in the library to share bird stories and learn bird ID tips and tools.
 
Walks are limited to 6, so please sign up early.

Weaving Wednesdays
January 8, 15, 22 & 29 @ 4-5:30pm
 
Gather with other crafters for a diversity of weaving projects. Teacher Barbie Paulsen will be here on some Wednesdays. Try out the mini weaving projects on the wall across from the Front Desk.

Needlecraft Night - Wednesdays, January 8, 15, 22 & 29 @ 5-7pm

 
 
Think you’ve got what it takes to piece it all together? Join us for Puzzlepalooza on Tuesday, January 14 at 6 PM! Teams of two will race against the clock—and each other—to complete a 300-piece jigsaw puzzle. Bragging rights and a little library glory are on the line! Sheepskin-soled Slippers Workshop
Wednesdays, January 22 & 29; February 5 @5-7pm
 
Join local crafter Ellen Peterson on Needlecraft Nights to make sheepskin-soled slippers. Using upcycled wool sweater material as uppers, and soft sheepskin for the soles, participants will learn how to measure, draw, design, leather punch, and sew their own custom slippers. During the second session, slippers can be completed and embellished with needle felting or appliquéd details.

Coffee Tasting with Lopez Island Coffee Roasters
Saturday, January 25, 10:30 to 11:30am
Coffee is often consumed everyday by many of us but how much do we really know about it? After almost 20 years in the coffee industry the folks at Lopez Island Coffee Roasters would like to help lift the veil off the nuance and complexities hidden in every cup. From origin, to roast, farming techniques, and brewing methods we would like to share with the community an informative session to enjoy the fine points of this wonderful beverage in a relaxed and friendly environment that is accessible to anyone.
 
RSVPs encouraged but not required.
