Can you imagine! In August, Jane, our Children’s Services Manager, took a trip down to Tacoma with the Orcas Island Library staff to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Statewide Celebration. Brooke Fisher-Clark and the Washington State Library staff worked to get every child in Washington eligible to receive this program at home. Washington is the only western state to have adopted this program. Dolly Parton came to Tacoma to talk about her program, her life, and to sing a few songs! (CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO OPEN THE VIDEO). Thanks to the sponsors at each library, United Way of Washington, and Dolly Parton, children can be registered and start receiving high quality books every month from ages 0-5 years old. That is 60 books for each child! Dolly sat down with Washington Lieutenant Governor Denny Heck and told us the story of the conception of this program and said the Imagination Library is the best thing she has done in her career. Use this QR code to sign up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. It's FREE!
