A Field Guide to Men's Health: Eat Right, Stay Fit, Sleep Well, and Have Great Sex--Forever
by Jesse N. Mills

Non-fiction: Why is it that men don't go to the doctor until they are sick or something is broken? Men's health is a lot more than that--it's preventive care, cardiovascular health, sexual health, nutrition, and exercise. It's sleep medicine, relationship health, self-care, and, yes, penises. And it's about time for men to have an easy-to-follow guide of their own, especially with an increase in interest in men's health and lifestyle in the last couple of years. Dr. Jesse Mills, a urologist and men's health expert and founder of the Men's Clinic at UCLA, is here to give men a holistic perspective on preventive care. A Field Guide to Men's Health will help men invest in their health and make positive changes to live an optimized life, and it answers lots of questions that men may be uncomfortable asking their doctors or partners. A Field Guide to Men's Health is straightforward and backed by science but written in an easily digestible way. Organized into straightforward chapters like Reset, Manatomy, Eat, Move, Sex, Fertility, and Lifestyle, and with easily digestible entries like in The New Rules of Aging Well and How to Sleep, the book is easy to use and the go-to resource for the information men need. They'll learn that overhydrating can be dangerous; that many scientific studies have shown that men who have more frequent sex later into their lives live longer lives; that all diets will fail at some point, but which ones to go to for a jump-start when trying to lose weight; when to get screened for prostate cancer; which doctors they need to see, when and for what; that male fertility issues are just as common as female fertility issues; that a small dose of caffeine (a simple cup of coffee) an hour before a workout can improve energy; that eating well, moving more, and sleeping are the pillars to boosting immunity and overall health at any age. Diagrams, charts, and lists will complete A Field Guide to Men's Health, making it an essential resource for men, and for those who love them.

Beyond Inclusion: How to Raise Anti-ableist Kids
by Carrie Cherney Hahn

Non-fiction: If the question is "How do you raise anti-ableist kids?" the answer is "Become anti-ableist and then model it through intention and action for your children." Parents want to be inclusive of their disabled and neurodivergent neighbors and want to pass these values along to their children. What holds them back is not having the education or experience on how to appropriately do this. Beyond Inclusion breaks down fifteen common forms of ableism, with explanations, examples, and first-person accounts. Doing better starts with knowledge. Author Carrie Cherney Hahn offers activities and perspectives that help parents understand the ableism that exists within them and supports their ability to process and dismantle it so that they can model anti-ableist practices for their kids. Each chapter offers children's resources that parents can use to nurture informed and anti-ableist ideals in their kids.

When the two form an accidental friendship, they begin noticing each other in ways they promised themselves they'd avoid. After all, Xia's isolation is self-imposed for a reason, and the last thing Gloria needs is more upheaval, especially after her parents kicked her out of the house for being gay. Ever since, she has spent her nights under the stage in the school auditorium and her days terrified of being discovered. Xia just wants to keep her head down until the end of senior year. Gloria just wants to keep her living situation quiet until her parents come around. Beast by Richard Van Camp
Beast
by Richard Van Camp

Young Adult Fiction: Lawson Sauren's life has always been entwined with the lives of the Cranes brothers. Cody Cranes became an unexpected friend when they shared a tent at summer camp, but now he's disappeared. Star athlete Stanley Cranes survived the canoe accident that killed Lawson's mother but has been a shell of himself ever since. Silver Cranes, jeez, the guy was downright scary even before he made some kind of occult pact resurrecting the Dead One, a ghoulish, cruel, powerful spirit hellbent on destroying peace treaties like the centuries-old one between the Dogrib and Chipewyan which Lawson and the Cranes boys are tasked with preserving. Determined to save his community from the Dead One's ravenous maw, Lawson must step into his role as a Dogrib Yabati, or protector, and recruit his friends Isaiah Valentine, a Cree Grass Dancer, and Shari Burns, a Metis psychic, to face what Silver Cranes has called back. This latest feat of storytelling magic by celebrated author Richard Van Camp blends sharply observed realism and hair-raising horror as it plays out against a 1980s-era backdrop replete with Platinum Blonde songs and episodes of Degrassi Junior High. Set in the same fictional town of Fort Simmer, Northwest Territories as previous Van Camp stories, Beast delivers a gripping, spirited tale that pits the powers of tradition against the pull of a vengeful past.
