Due to continued renovations, there will be no story times in the month of June. Summer Reading starts June 10! This summer's theme is Read , Renew, Repeat! Visit the children's room any time between June 10 and July 31 to register your children ages 3-entering ninth grade. They will receive a log to keep track of reading (or listening to reading) and get rewarded for their hard work. This year, we are offering brag tag necklaces to children ages 3-entering fifth grade. Earn a tag for every 75 minutes of reading. Tweens and teens will earn candy for reading. Once a log is completed, the youngest children (ages 3-8) will earn a free book, Boston Bruins reading certificate, and a raffle ticket for a fun prize, like Altitude passes, Funko Pop, Disney Wish stuffed animal, and book sets. Children ages 9 and up will earn a Bruins reading certificate and raffle ticket for prizes like Altitude and Treetop Adventure passes, Showcase Cinemas tickets, a North Bowl Lanes bowling and pizza package for 6 people, a gift card to An Unlikely Story, book sets, microscope, and games! Logs must be redeemed by August 17, and children can do more than one log, if they want. You can find more information on our website under the Children tab. Are you ready for a scavenger hunt! We will have a flamingo scavenger hunt inside the library between June 10 and June 29. Find them all and receive a small prize! STEAM cart days: Drop in any time between 10am and 4pm on Saturdays for a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activity! Some of our activities include Snap Circuits (for children ages 5 and up with an adult), Magna Tiles, Keva Planks, Play-doh, Marble Run, Crafts, Pattern Play, and Legos! Find each day's activity on our website. Join us for Lego building fun on Monday, June 17, from 11am to 1pm. Use our Legos to make a cool creation, and we will display it in the room for the month. We will have foam bug crafts for ages 3+ with an adult on June 20 from 10am-12pm. Children and adults can make a pride button on June 24 from 1-3pm, and children ages 6+ can drop by the children's room anytime between 10 am and 2pm on June 27 to make a beaded necklace. Chess Club will meet once in June and move to a new time: June 20 from 3-4pm. Children ages 6+ and teens or families with a basic knowledge of the game are welcome to stop by the Children's Room and play.
