Young Adult & Children's Programs
The library is participating in the Massachusetts Center For the Book Youth Reading Challenge, which runs from June 2025 to May 2026. Children and teens can pick up a reading passport from the children’s room and then read a book from each month’s reading prompt. Receive a passport sticker for each month completed and a prize for every 4 months completed. This month’s reading prompt is a book written before 2000. Find this month’s titles on display in the children’s room or select your own.

Help prevent the summer slide with our summer reading program. This year’s theme is Level Up At Your Library! Children ages 3-entering ninth grade are encouraged to register beginning June 23. They will receive a reading log and instructions. They will earn a lanyard and buttons as they progress through the log. Upon finishing their log, children will receive a free book and a raffle ticket for a fun prize. Prizes this year include passes to Launch, Treetop Adventures, Showcase Cinemas, The Basketball Hall of Fame, and Level 99, plus gift cards to North Bowl Lanes, Dairy Queen, and Unlikely Story. Find more information and a list of our donors on our website.

We kick off our summer programs with the hilarious and informative Poop Museum. Children ages 5 through 10 will laugh as they learn all about poop on June 25 at 1 pm! Registration begins June 2.

Other programs this month include Lego Fun on June 18 from 10am-3pm, Play-doh Seashell Imprints on June 23 from 10am-2pm and June 26 from 10am-12pm, and giant games on June 26 from 2pm-4:30pm.

We’ve teamed up with the Attleboro and Plainville libraries for a summer-long Library Quest! Receive a special Library Quest paper game board and complete all the tasks listed. Get your paper stamped for each task, like finding Greg Heffley at Plainville library or checking out a book at the Richards Memorial Library. The game begins June 23.

Adult Book Discussions

The Adult Book Group will meet on Tuesday, June 10, at 1:30pm to discuss Counterfeit by Kirsten Chen. Copies of the book are available in the Reference Room. No need to register; just show up in the Meeting Room. We hope you'll join us!

Ava Wong, a strait-laced Chinese American lawyer and her former college roommate from Mainland China, who dropped out under mysterious circumstances, join forces in an ingenious counterfeit operation selling replica luxury handbags.
The COA Book Group will not be meeting in June. We will meet at the North Attleboro Senior Center on July 28 when we will discuss The body in the library by Sulari Gentill. Any senior interested in attending should contact Brenda Takessian, COA Program Coordinator. The group will meet the fourth  Monday of each month from 1:30 - 2:30pm. Copies of the book will be available at the Library Circulation Desk. If you don't already have a library card, bring in some ID and you can get one immediately!

In the Boston Public Library, on lockdown after a threat is identified, four strangers sitting at the same table pass the time in conversation—and it just so happens that one of them is a murderer, but which one?
Reading Challenge 2025

This year, Richards Memorial Library is joining the Mass Center for the Book Reading Challenge. The Reading Challenge is geared towards adults, although people of all ages can participate. Participants read a book each month in a specific category and fill out a monthly entry form using the Mass Center for the Book's Submission Manager.
Last year there were 1,500+ participants who read over 7,000 books. June's Challenge is to read a book that spans multiple generations. We have a selection of books on display or choose another one you'd like.  Visit "Programs" on massbook.org to learn more.

Marjorie's Pick

I highly recommend the brilliant and compelling  One day, every one will have always been against this by Omar El Akkad. A passionate condemnation of the West's apathy toward the  Palestinian genocide, El Akkad, a journalist and novelist, asks what is the purpose of his profession if not to tell the truth?
Friends of the Richards Memorial Library

With our lack of space for storage and sorting, we have made the sad decision to suspend our annual book sale again this year. If, by any chance, you have space available for approximately 4-5 months, with access for us to use as a collection/storage/sorting area at bimonthly prearranged times, please contact us. We miss our book sale!  In the past, this has been our most profitable source of income which lets us continue the work of supporting our Library. According to the number of people asking about it, our sale is always popular! And it is a tax write-off for you.
