This Month at The Library
November 2025
Message from the Director

Greetings!

Save the date: Wednesday, December 3rd at 6:00pm for a Fireside Chat without the Fire speaker series. Our guest speaker is Dustin Pari with It’s a Wonderful Lecture. It’s a Wonderful Lecture is a presentation that has truly resonated on a deep level with so many. Taking a look at the beloved classic It’s a Wonderful Life, Dustin uses quotes, scenes, and characters from the movie as he weaves a tale of commonality and humanity that brings us all together in love, kindness, and harmony. Hear the tale and feel the struggle of George Bailey, because his issues are our issues. We all walk through this human experience together, feeling the ripple of the lives of those around us.

Reminder: the Library will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th for Veteran’s Day as well as Thursday and Friday, November 27th and 28th for Thanksgiving. We’re always available online at rmlonline.org.

Best regards,
Debbie Clifton, MSLS

Children & Young Adult Programs
November kicks off with a fantastic Artist Showcase on November 1 at 1pm, presented by Arts For Learning Massachusetts. Artists include a beatboxer, a drummer, and marionettes. This event will take place in the front reading room and is great for children and families. The library will be loud during this time, and the reading room tables and chairs will be reserved for patrons attending the program.

Join us for storytime at 10am Thursdays. We will hear stories, sing songs, get up and move, and do an easy craft. Storytimes are best for children ages 0-7. Can't make it to storytime? Grab a Take and Make bagged craft from the front Reading Room on the first Tuesday of each month. The November craft is a paper bag turkey and is great for children ages 2 and up.

Register now for Learn To Paint Hedwig for ages 8-12 on Saturday, November 15, at 1pm. Artist Patti Allen will guide the children step by step through the process of painting Harry Potter's owl on canvas.

Check out our monthly clubs:

Chess Club for ages 6 and up meets November 4 and 18 at 6pm. This club is welcome to children ages 6 and up, teens, and families. Some knowledge of the game of chess is expected.

A senior resident assistant at the University of Arkansas accepts an easy yet unusual opportunity offered by a visiting professor and things get messy when her new side-hustle is jeopardized by strange new friends and illicit and vengeful dorm antics.

Reading Challenge 2025

This year, Richards Memorial Library is participating in the Mass Center for the Book Reading Challenge. The Reading Challenge is geared towards adults, although people of all ages can participate. Participants read a book each month in a specific category and fill out a monthly entry form using the Mass Center for the Book's Submission Manager. November's challenge is to read a cookbook or book about food. We have a selection of books on display or choose another one you'd like to read.  Visit "Programs" on massbook.org to learn more.
