Cyber Proofing with Special Constable Koldyk

Online predators are lurking, so how do you protect your kids when they are surfing the web? Special Constable Brenda Koldyk from the Chatham-Kent Police Service will speak about the current online problems with sexual predators, trafficking, luring, and more.
 
Parents can come by themselves or accompany their children who are 9 years or older for this frank talk about serious dangers that children may encounter online.

National Novel Writing Month
 
NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, is a worldwide challenge where people attempt to write a 50 000 word novel between November 1 and November 30.  Anyone over the age of 13 can participate and write in any genre.
 
CKPL will be hosting “Come Write In” sessions at 5 different CKPL locations. This program is for all writers looking for some inspiration, a quiet place to work or a chance to meet other local writers participating in NaNoWriMo.

Cards with a Cause

Teens can join staff at the Chatham Branch on November 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Meeting Room. We will be creating hand-made cards that will be delivered to seniors at Riverview Gardens during the holidays. Supplies provided; you bring the cheer!  
 
As a bonus, high school aged participants can count this event toward their volunteer hours. Please be sure to bring your sheet, so staff can sign off on it.
 
No registration required. Program open for teens 12 to 18 years old.
 
Make A Will Month Virtual Information Session

The Ontario Bar Association marks November as "Make A Will Month" each year. This is an opportunity to connect lawyers with their local communities and to raise awareness about the importance of having a will, establishing powers of attorney and estate planning. CKPL will be hosting a free virtual legal information session presented by lawyer Doug Ferguson in partnership with the Ontario Bar Association.
