Just to keep you updated… Regardless of when we re-open, we have cancelled all in-person programs and meetings through the end of June. Any cards due to expire while we are closed will be automatically renewed until June 1. We will continue to follow the mandates regarding the closing of non-essential businesses and we look forward to the day we can re-open our doors.

We're pleased to offer free resume and cover letter assistance during this time. Go to our website, fill out the form, attach your resume and/or cover letter and our newsletter editor will review it and get back to you with any suggestions for how it can be improved. Please note that this service does not include assistance with uploading resumes to various employment websites.

There are beautiful plants deer don’t like to eat! Incorporate these perennials, annuals and shrubs in your landscape to create an attractive yard with three seasons of bloom.

Community Responsibility Please be sure to properly dispose of any gloves, masks or protective wear you might be using when you're out. In the interest of the health of others, as well as the health of the environment, it's important to throw these items in the trash immediately or carry a bag to throw them away when you get home.

Food Assistance Island Harvest provides free referrals and free assistance for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) over the phone, and you do not have to go to the Department of Social Services. Island Harvest can walk you through the online application by telephone or complete a short intake and submit the online application for you. Call 631-873-4775

~~~ The Federation of Organizations food pantry is open on the third and last Saturday of each month (for April, the 18th and 25th) from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. It is located at 456 Waverly Avenue, in Patchogue. Please park in the back parking lot and be sure to maintain at least six feet between yourself and others. In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, NYS of Health announced that Special Enrollment Period will now be made available for New Yorkers. Eligible individuals will be able to enroll in insurance coverage through NY State of Health through May 15, 2020. Support for Parents Long Island Parenting Institute is offering free video chats to any parent that needs support and answers for today's concerns. Call 631-533-5055 or email kathryn.cannino@eac-network.org to schedule a video chat with an expert. ~~~ Parents worry about their children's development even under normal circumstances, but we understand you might have particular concerns right now. Coronavirus: A book for children For young kids, this may be a difficult and confusing time. Axel Scheffler, illustrator of The Gruffalo, has illustrated a digital book for 5 to 9-year-olds about the coronavirus and the measures taken to control it. Available to read on screen or print.

Support for Veterans is still available through the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Support Project. Although they are unable to provide in-person support, they are holding online support group meetings to help veterans with a wide array of issues. Be sure to reach out for any help you may need.

Support for Caregivers The Parker Jewish Institute continues to hold phone support groups for caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s/dementia. Group tele-meeting times are as follows: Weekdays at 10:00 AM & 2:00 PM. Saturdays at 9:30 AM.
