Halfway Point of Silicon Valley Reads
We are reaching the halfway point of Silicon Valley Reads, and there are still plenty of free opportunities to enjoy programs centered around the theme, A Greener Tomorrow Starts Today.
 
Stop by our libraries to enjoy kids’ programs such as crafts and storytimes. Find the schedule here. Teens are invited to craft programs like recycling plastic bottles into seed sprouters and creating a terrarium. There are a variety of programs for adults, including zero waste cooking demonstrations, gardening presentations and outdoor tours.

Celebrate Silicon Valley Reads with our special stories hotline! Dial-a-Story and listen to the featured title, To Change a Planet by Christina Soontornvat.

March is Women's History Month
The theme for this year’s Women’s History Month, Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, “recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions.”

TEENS AND ADULTS

Tax Guide 2024
Learn about tax law changes and how it might affect your personal financial situation during a virtual program on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. Presented by the Financial Planning Association of Silicon Valley, you will also learn strategies for tax savings for this year and beyond. Please register to attend.
 
As a reminder, this year’s tax deadline is on Monday, April 15.
 
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides free basic tax return preparation for low and moderate-income taxpayers. There are three programs happening at Cupertino Library in March and April. See the schedule here. Patrons can find additional VITA workshops by visiting the State Controller’s website. 
Special Presentations: Preventing Falls
Falls are the leading cause of injuries among older adults, but they are preventable.
 
The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center’s Trauma Services will be visiting three libraries for a special presentation: Preventing Falls. Learn six simple steps you can do every day to prevent a fall and maintain your independence.

The second installment of SCCLD’s inaugural Asian Art Museum art series talk is on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m.

Career Expo on March 6
The County of Santa Clara Behavioral Health Services and county partner agencies are hosting a career expo on Wednesday, March 6 at 11 a.m.

Primary Election Next Week
The California primaries are next week, on Tuesday, March 5.
 
If you have missed the deadline to register to vote, you are still able to conditionally register to vote. Learn how the process works here.
 
If you would like to vote in person, Cupertino, Milpitas and Saratoga Libraries are serving as Early Voting Centers until Monday, March 4 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
 
Gilroy and Morgan Hill Libraries will be open for early voting from Saturday, March 2 – Monday, March 4 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
 
On Election Day, all of these locations will operate as Voting Centers from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Find our locations here.
