USS Constitution has been honored on a U.S. postage stamp twice. On October 21, 1947, the Post Office Department issued a 3-cent stamp on board “Old Ironsides” to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the ship’s launch. A local architect named Andrew Hepburn used ship models, plans, and original sources for the design depicting the Ship under an arch of sixteen stars representing the sixteen states of America at the time of the ship’s launch in 1797. The second stamp was issued in 2012 as a "forever stamp" as the first in a series commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The stamp depicts an 1803 painting attributed to Neapolitan artist Michele Felice Cornè – the earliest known image of “Old Ironsides.” We think that's a fitting tribute! Which stamp design do you like best?

I'm the lucky owner of both!

A team from a @TAPSorg program in Boston participated in a facilitated program, toured @USSConstitution, met with CDR Farrell, and then painted these beautiful murals to brighten up our Ed Center. TAPS supports families and children who have lost a parent through military service. The murals have moved into our office, still making our days more colorful!
