Hello South Country Community,
 
The Library's Budget Vote and Trustee Elections are today in our downstairs community room. Voting closes at 9:00 PM. Click here to view budget details and trustee candidate statements.
 
The Young Adult and Children's Departments have begun monthly programs for tweens in grades 4 - 7. April's program is a Taste Test Challenge.
 
Teens: the annual Authors Unlimited program is coming up soon. Sign up to hear from YA authors and earn community service hours.
 
The Library will be closed April 9 for Easter Sunday.
We hope your Spring has sprouted with color and life.

Thanks to all who brought in their old holiday string lights!
We collected a whopping 150 lbs of faulty lights, which we sold to a regional recycling facility -- the proceeds will go towards future Library of Things items. We also collected 50 lbs of working or near-working lights, which we repaired, repackaged, and donated to local thrift stores. 
 
Dental Health Information Table

Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine dental residents will be in the Children's Department to answer your dental questions. Free, no registration.

Children's Advocacy Center is Suffolk County’s front-line responders to abuse and exploitation of children. We provide a prompt, sensitive, interagency response to child abuse so that every child and family can focus on healing.

Drop in for a cup of coffee and meet with knowledgeable volunteers who can guide you through the repair of broken items.
Reduce waste, save money, and learn repair skills to get more use out of what you own. No registration required.

Our Seed Library has Started
Discover the joys of gardening and eating your own produce. South Country Library patrons may choose up to three packets per visit, free of charge, from a variety of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds.

Museum Passes & Discount Tickets
The Library offers free passes to select museums on Long Island & in NYC. We also provide access to discounted tickets to Long Island Aquarium & the Bronx Zoo.

Sign Up to be a Literacy Volunteer
Are you interested in helping an English speaker learn to read and write? The Library is looking for volunteers with instructional experience who would like to open countless doors for someone else by offering the gift of literacy. Interested persons should
complete this application and contact Jack in the Reference Department at 631-286-0818 ext 1.

Renew or Apply for a New Library Card on Our Website
South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID & address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

 
Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports. 
Hours are by appointment only.

Our service cannot renew a passport.
There is a separate process for that by mail.

Angie and Kate are our social work interns from Stony Brook University. They can help with information, referrals, and paperwork for housing, treatment, social services, unemployment, food pantries, and more.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
