The Library's Budget Vote and Trustee Elections are Tuesday, April 4, from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM, at the Library. Click here to view the budget details and trustee candidate statements.
 
The Library will be closed April 9 for Easter Sunday.

Fiddler's Green

After a three-year wait, we are pleased to welcome back Fiddler's Green. The band performs traditional music of Ireland and America in an authentic acoustic style. Registration is required.

FCA will be available in our main corridor to discuss their Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Program and other services.

Bethpage VITA: FSA Tax Prep
Tuesday, April 4, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Tax Department employees guide you step-by-step as you e-file your own income tax return using secure online tax software at no cost. You qualify if you earned $73,000 or less in 2022.
 
Must have basic computer skills. Bring a personal internet-capable device (smartphone or tablet) with access to your active email account. This Facilitated Self Assistance is offered in cooperation with Bethpage Federal Credit Union's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.
 
Open for registration -- limited appointments.

You will register for a time slot between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Bring your photo ID and social security card.
NY State of Health
Tuesday, April 4, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
 
NY State of Health will be at the library to talk with patrons about how to get quality, affordable health coverage.
No registration -- just stop by.
Dental Health Information Table
Thursday, April 6,
Stop by from 1:00 - 4:00 PM
 
Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine dental residents will be in the Children's Department to answer your dental questions. Free, no registration.
 
Community Notice: Building Closure
The Library will be replacing the HVAC system for the original section of the building this Spring. We are expecting a building closure while the work is being performed. 
 
A variety of services will still be available including e-books, streaming services, parking lot wifi and ref assistance via email, phone and chat. Until we can post specifics in a future email, please call, check our website, or visit our social media for updates on the exact time frame.  
 
We are pleased to note the new system will be highly energy efficient and will run on 100% clean energy while providing for greater comfort control and introduction of fresh air into the building.  Thank you in advance for your patience during construction!
 
Our Seed Library has Started!

Sign Up to be a Literacy Volunteer!
Are you interested in helping an English speaker learn to read and write? The Library is looking for volunteers with instructional experience who would like to open countless doors for someone else by offering the gift of literacy. Interested persons should
complete this application and contact Jack in the Reference Department at 631-286-0818 ext 1.
 
Museum Passes & Discount Tickets
The Library offers free passes to select museums on Long Island & in NYC. We also provide access to discounted tickets to Long Island Aquarium & the Bronx Zoo.

Renew or Apply for a New Library Card on Our Website
South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID & address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

 
Passport Services by Appointment
We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports. 
Hours are by appointment only.

Angie and Kate are our social work interns from Stony Brook University. They can help with information, referrals, and paperwork for housing, treatment, social services, unemployment, food pantries, and more.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day
from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
