Hello South Country Community, The library is currently closed for construction; the building reopens on Saturday, May 6, at 9:30 AM. In the meantime, we have select services available -- click here for details. We have a lot planned in May and June; online and telephone registration is available for many programs during the building closure. The library will have a collection box from May 6 - 20. Items needed: Rice, beans, canned veggies, canned fruit, canned soup, canned stew, paper towels, toilet paper, bar soap, jelly, peanut butter, cereal, canned fish/tuna/Spam, Parmalat milk.

Star Wars Day Saturday, May 13, 1:00 - 4:00 PM Celebrate Star Wars at the library with crafts, Padawan training, green screen photos, giveaways, raffles, and a visit from The Saber Guild of Long Island Endor Temple. All ages welcome. Cosplay is encouraged; no weapons, please.

Outdoor Movie Friday, May 19, 8:00 - 10:00 PM South Country Ambulance Company 420 Station Road Bring the whole family down to the South Country Ambulance Company to watch a classic baseball movie under the stars. Bring something to sit on and some snacks if you like. No registration. Rain will move the event indoors.

Museum Passes & Discount Tickets Only print-on-demand passes will be available while the library building is closed.

The Library offers free passes to select museums on Long Island & in NYC. We also provide access to discounted tickets to the Long Island Aquarium,the Bronx Zoo, and Splish Splash water park.

NEW print-on-demand passes: the Harbes Barnyard Adventure (reopens in May), and Sagtikos Manor (reopens in June). Passes may be booked 30 days in advance. Click here and use the drop-down menu to choose these or other destinations.

Sign Up to be a Literacy Volunteer Are you interested in helping an English speaker learn to read and write? The Library is looking for volunteers with instructional experience who would like to open countless doors for someone else by offering the gift of literacy. Interested persons should complete this application and contact Jack in the Reference Department at 631-286-0818 ext 1.

South Country Library patrons may renew their card or apply for a new one online. Images of photo ID & address verification are required. Or visit our Patron Services desk at the front of the library for the same service.

Passport Services by Appointment We serve first-time applicants, minor applicants, adult applicants whose most recent passport was issued as a minor, and applicants who have lost their passports.
|
|
Hours are by appointment only. You may also call us at 631-286-0818 x1. Our service cannot renew a passport. Printed forms are available by the Reference Desk.

Social Work Services Please note: Tuesday, May 9 is the final day of Social Work Services for this semester.

Do you, or does a friend, need help finding resources to regain stability in life? Angie and Kate are our social work interns from Stony Brook University. They can help with information, referrals, and paperwork for housing, treatment, social services, unemployment, food pantries, and more.

Services for Veterans and Job-Seekers
|
|
Helps veterans and their families navigate the VA bureaucracy, provides academic tutoring, and assists with employment transition.
|
Provides various tools to help with every step of the job search including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and career planning.
|
|
Each service provides live virtual assistance every day from 2:00 - 11:00 PM. A current library card is required.
