The Four Cs of Grief
Friday, October 10, 1:00 to 2:30 pm

Learn about the four Cs of Grief: Common, Complex, Complicated, and Life Changing. We will look at various aspects of grief, including how common grief is in our everyday lives, the complexities of grief, and how it impacts us socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually (to name a few). We will also look at complicated vs. non-complicated grief: when is it moving in the right direction, or when it isn’t. And finally, we will look at how grief is life-changing: how do we move forward and grow stronger and more resilient in our grief?  Time will be given for questions and sharing.
Our presenter, Jody Brandt, currently serves as the Director of Conference and Event Services at Messiah University.  Jody holds a BA in Family Studies from Messiah University and a Master of Social Work degree from Temple University.  She has previously spent many years working as a social worker and marketer for several hospice organizations.  Jody also serves as an adjunct Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences, specializing in the topic of grief and loss. Jody has been privileged to teach the course, Death, Grief, and Caring at Messiah University for many years.

Making a Senior Move Special
Wednesday, October 15, 1:00 to 2:30 pm

More than 350,000 aging parents move each year, a significant life change that creates stress and anxiety for both the senior and their family. Many individuals are also considering this type of complicated move for themselves. Regardless of the specific situation, it is possible to transform this highly challenging time into one that makes a move efficient and seamless while easing the physical and emotional anxiety.
Senior move expert Monica E. Young will be here to share stories and give advice on this common topic. Having helped over 1000 families negotiate later life transitions, Monica was a senior move manager who will share the secrets of helping your parents move comfortably, gracefully, and lovingly so they can enjoy their golden years in the best ways possible. Her new book, How to Easily Move an Aging Parent into Their Next Home . . . Like a Pro supports readers in making a DIY move with dignity, compassion, and love. Her books will be available to purchase at this event.
