South Country Library
Weekly Update
August 1, 2020
Building community by sharing the wonders of learning, creating and connecting with one another.
Hello & Happy August, South Country Community!

A few main points we'd like to mention right at the top --
  • The Weekly Update is shifting to Mondays around 12 Noon. The next one will be on August 10th.
  • When visiting the library, we do require that you wear a cloth mask/face covering. A clear hard-plastic face shield is not enough if there is no cloth mask underneath. We thank you for your cooperation.
  • Are you a new voter, or have you changed addresses since the last time you voted? Then you'll want to pick up a voter registration form, available upon request at the Reference Desk.
From last week's Update: click here for the basic policies of our restricted opening, here for detailed policies + photos, and here for the map of our rearranged collections.

Be sure to peruse through the new programs and activities for children, adults, and teens below. Here are the highlights of what's after that —
  • The deadline to apply to the NY COVID Rent Relief Program has been extended to August 6.
  • A new month of free virtual programs for those with dementia/Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, from the LI Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center, the Alzheimer’s Association of LI, and the Parker Jewish Institute.
  • A listing of agencies that provide free or low-cost virtual legal assistance on a broad range of topics (if you even think you might need legal assistance, check this out).
  • Two more cell phone walking tours of Bellport Village! (scroll to #2 and #3)
Take care, and we'll be in your inbox again next Monday!

Book Personality
Quiz from...

This short book personality quiz was designed for kids, but it's still interesting to do as an adult. We tend to think of books in genres such as mysteries, sci-fi, etc., but this quiz sorts you by personality as a Team Player, Jokester, Champion, or Investigator and recommends kid-level books based on those categories.
