Give Your Used Books a New Home

The used book drive is back! Donate your gently used books to the library on Thursday, August 19 from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Pull into the library’s parking ramp on Third Street, and volunteers will unload the books. Your donations will help stock the shelves for the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library book sales. For those not able to make this book drive, we will offer additional collection drives on October 30 and November 6 in preparation for the Friends multi-day used book sale in November.

Due to limited storage space, we will not accept encyclopedias, magazines, Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, textbooks, religious materials, National Geographic, videos, cassettes, or partially used puzzle books. We also cannot accept books that are stained, mildewed or contain mold, handwriting, or highlighting.

Explore Art and Nature with Sarah Lilja

In August and September, the gallery at Stillwater Public Library will feature the exhibit “Water, White Pines, and Wildflowers“ by photographer Sarah Lilja. The vibrant works are from Sarah’s recent three-week residency at Pine Needles, the historic James Taylor Dunn Cabin, on the banks of the St. Croix River. This competitive residency program, sponsored by the St. Croix Watershed Research Station, focuses on the complex connection between art, the natural world, and the sciences. The exhibit is viewable during library hours. Meet Sarah at an artist reception on September 14 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM.

Enjoy Live Music on the Terrace

Join us on Thursday, August 19 at 6:30 PM for a free, family-friendly outdoor concert on the library’s terrace featuring Valley Concert Winds. Valley Concert Winds strive to build a lifelong appreciation of music right here in Stillwater. Let the band be your soundtrack for this classic river town evening—from the rooftops of the city itself. Seating is provided. Concert changes due to weather will be announced on the Valley Concert Winds website.
